Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and was raised by a mixed-ethnic, multiracial family. Jacqueline's father Elroy is a Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother, Kim is a Malaysian. Jacqueline is the oldest of two siblings and a younger sibling. She was raised and born in Bahrain. The family of her parents been to the country in the 1980s due to the civil war in Sri Lanka. After graduating from the schooling in Bahrain she was awarded the Scholarship at the University of Sydney to pursue the Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. As a lover of culture and languages, she attended Berlitz Language School in which she studied Spanish as well as enhancing her French as well as Arabic. In 2006 she was named Miss Sri Lanka. Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March 2006, and was also a contestant at Miss Universe 2006. After winning Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she stepped into the world of TV and was the host of a show about Sri Lanka's business, called Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the daughter of the badminton star Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and was raised in Bangalore. When she was a teenager she was a badminton player in the national championships, but she ended her career in the sport to become a fashion model. Padukone hails from Mangalore and her native language is Konkani. Padukone is located in the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend before retiring in the 1980s. Her mother, who worked for a travel agency also comes from this area.
